Edit Report Cube Security dialog

This dialog appears when you do one of the following:

• Click Tools > Security Configuration in the Report Cube Editor window.
• In the Catalog Browser, navigate to a data source > Security, right-click Report Cube Security, and then select Edit Report Cube Security from the shortcut menu.
• In the Catalog Browser, expand a report cube, right-click Report Cube Security, and then click Edit Report Cube Security on the shortcut menu.

It helps you to define member-level security for report cubes. See the dialog.

The following are details about options in the dialog:

User/Group/Role

Lists all the users, roles, groups for the security policy. The everyone role cannot be deleted. By default it has visible permission on all the resources.

• 
  Adds a user/group/role. After you click the button, a drop-down menu will be shown:
  • Add User
    Creates a new user in the Add User dialog.
  • Add Group
    Creates a new group in the Add Group dialog.
  • Add Role
    Creates a new role in the Add Role dialog.
  • Import from JReport Server
    Opens the Connect to JReport Server dialog to import users, roles, and groups from JReport Server.
  • Import from File
    Imports users, roles, and groups from an xml file.
• 
  Exports the users, roles, and groups to an xml file.
• 
  Deletes the selected user/group/role.
• 
  Edits the selected user/role/group in the displayed dialog.
• Quick search toolbar
  Type in text in the toolbar to search for the user/role/group in the list below. The names containing the matched text will be shown.

Resources

Lists all the report cubes in the data source.

• Quick search toolbar
  Searches for the resource in the list below. The names containing the matched text will be shown.
  

Member Level Security

The following options are enabled when a dimension field is selected.

• Specify Allowed Set
  Specifies the members of the selected dimension field which the selected user/role/group is allowed to see. It could be <All>, some members of the dimension field, a condition that retrieves certain members, or null.
  • 
    Edits the allowed members in the Edit Values dialog.
  • 
    Deletes the specified members or condition.
• Specify Denied Set
  Specifies the members of the selected dimension field which the selected user/role/group is not allowed to see. It could be <All>, some members of the dimension field, a condition, or null.
  • 
    Edits the denied members in the Edit Values dialog.
  • 
    Deletes the specified members or condition.
• Whether unspecified members are allowed
  Specifies whether the unspecified members are allowed or denied. The unspecified members here mean the members of the dimension field that are not specified in its Allowed/Denied Set or in the inherited allowed/denied set from the parents. The option is available when a user is selected.

  If checked, the unspecified members will be visible to the selected user.

  If unchecked, the unspecified members will be invisible to the selected user.

Permission

• Visible
  Specifies whether or not the selected field is visible to the selected user/role/group.

OK

Applies all changes and closes the dialog.

Cancel

Does not retain any changes and closes the dialog.
